Gradually taking its form, ODTÜ Alumni Day is a powerful event celebrated since 1991.
It has been celebrated in late June or early July for a long time. In the morning, the alumni get together and collective activities are performed. In the afternoon, they meet in their departments. A special ceremony is organized for "Golden Years" in CCC (Culture and Convention Center).
In the medal ceremonies, the alumni who celebrate their 10th, 20th (Bronze), 30th, 40th (Silver), 45th, 50th and 55th (Golden) graduation anniversary are presented with their medals. Such materials (bronze, silver and gold) are used not for the materials of the medals but to describe those years.
The alumni of 10th, 20th, 30th and 40th years have to submit a Medal Application so that their medals can be made in their names.
Even if the number of alumni who will get their medals in the Alumni Day is higher than other alumni, the Alumni Day is an event participated by all the alumni from each year. There were the times the number of people participating in the event reached 7,000 - 8,000 together with their relatives. It is usual to have a gradually higher rate of participation in the Alumni Day.
The end of June is also a good time for our alumni around the world; many people come and participate from abroad. Recently; the number of the METU alumni who come from other countries has been increasing.
The alumni from different age groups come together in the university on the Alumni Day, which creates a very cheerful environment. You see both a "changed" university and your acquaintances and friends that you know for so long... Dünyanın bilimle değiştirilmesine ODTÜ'den katılan 2,5 milyon yılı aşan deneyimin temsilcileri o gün ODTÜ ruhunu yeniden canlandırıyorlar.
On the Alumni Day in 2018, there will be a medal ceremony for around 10,000 undergraduate, more than 2,500 Master's and 300 Ph.D. alumni.
The alumni who come together once a year on the Alumni Day stay together with our recent alumni network, ODTÜM at any time and anywhere! They use this network for more effective participation for the Alumni Day.
